The US budget deficit declined by 15.2 per cent in December.
The US Treasury said the deficit fell to $ 23.194 billion in December last year from $ 27.337 billion a year earlier.
In December, budget revenues grew 2.1 percent to $ 325.797 billion, and expenditures rose 0.7 percent to $ 348.99 billion.
In the United States, the new fiscal year began in October. The three-month cumulative deficit from October was $ 224.955 billion, an increase of 7.2 percent.
By the end of September, the US budget was $ 665.826 billion in the US budget, up 13.3 percent year-on-year. The GDP-proportionate deficit grew from 3.2 per cent to 3.5 per cent.
Last year, in 2001, the US budget was closed yearly. The largest deficit was in 2009, at $ 1.41 trillion, equivalent to 9.8 per cent of GDP.
