The growth of the United Kingdom’s construction industry has reached a one-year low in August, according to data published by IHS Markit Institute of Economics on Monday.
The United Kingdom Construction Sourcing Index (BMI) in August dropped considerably from 52.0 points to 51.1 points from 51.9 in the previous month.
The August data has been the lowest since August 2016.
Overall, construction activity grew slightly in the eighth month of the year, but commercial construction activity declined.
The IHS Markit Construction Sourcing Manager Index is based on the survey of over 170 UK purchasing managers in the UK.
