Billions of euros may increase Germany’s EU payment obligation due to the abolition of British membership (Brexit) – German papers are quoted on Friday, citing an analysis of the European Parliament.
With the departure of Britain, the budget of the EU budget is expected to fall by EUR 10.2 billion (HUF 3200 billion) annually, and to replace it with unchanged framework conditions, Germany would have to increase its payments by EUR 3.8 billion, a rise of 16% – the Funke media group .
However, for the time being, the burden sharing system may not remain the same because they consider the possibility of introducing restrictions on Brex or by replacing lost revenue through new sources such as taxes.
Germany is the EU’s largest net contributor. According to figures from the European Commission, last year, EUR 23.3 billion was paid into the common budget and received EUR 10.08 billion in funding.
