French actress Catherine Deneuve will be the guest of honor of this year’s international festival in Febiofest in Prague – said Kamil Spácil, director of the festival on Tuesday’s Prague press conference.
This year’s jubilee festival, now 25th, is held between March 15th and March 23rd.
Catherine Deneuve receives the Kristian Prize at the opening ceremony of the festival in Prague’s Vigadó (Obecní dum) in recognition of her outstanding film career. In addition to the French actress, French filmmakers Arnaud Desplechin, Czech actress Daniela Kolárová and French film director and actor Leos Carax receive a Kristian Prize.
The Febiofesten, created by a Slovakian filmmaker Fero Fenic in Prague, has about 160 films, including Hungarian works, this time. Kornél Mundruczó’s filmmaker will also be present at the screening of Jupiter’s moon, “said the director.
Among the guests of Febiofest will be Sally Potter British and Goran Paskaljevic Serbian filmmaker, Belgian Daphné Patakia, and French actress Marina Cayon.
This year’s screenings are taking place at CineStar Andel and Cerny Most Cinemas, as well as in the center of Prague, at the Wenceslas Square, are also run by a temporary cinema director.
The films are screened in four thematic sections. The jubilee festival is also produced with a Best of section in which the 10 most successful films of the past will be re-presented.
With the Grand Prix for the best film of the festival, there is currently a cash prize of € 5,000. This time, the jury president’s office was Marta Kubisová’s Czech legend and former civil rights activist.
Febiofest has now become one of the largest and most popular cultural events in the Czech Republic and has earned a strong international rank. The selected films can be viewed from 26 March to 21 April in the Czech Republic’s regional centers.
