Just $ 6100 (about one and a half million forints) was handwritten by Albert Einstein at a Jerusalem auction, “the Israeli auction company, Winners, announced Tuesday night.
The fifth message was put on paper by Einstein in 1921 when he visited Maja’s sister for a few days in Florence, Italy, one year before the Nobel Prize was received.
The lines addressed Elisabetta Piccini, a 22-year-old chemistry student who lived in the upper floor of the then 42-year-old researcher who refused to approach the then-known scientist.
“As a pleasing gift to the scientist who had lain for two full days in front of his leg”, he wrote in German in his handwritten text, leaving Piccin behind at the time of his departure.
The $ 6,100 price is rather small, and in October last year, $ 1,3 million was sold by Einstein to another happiness cetilla.
