The Russian floating nuclear power plant started its first offshore

The floating power station called Lomonoszov Akadémic was built in the St. Petersburg Shipyard and was released from there through the Baltic Sea, bypassing the Scandinavian peninsula to Murmansk. Reactories will then be charged with nuclear fuel.

The Marine Power Plant will plan to produce electricity in the Far East near Csukland in 2019, meeting the needs of oil wells and a port city’s energy needs.
The facility is fiercely attacked by Greenpeace’s environmentalist and “floating Chernobyl”, recalling the catastrophic consequences of a nuclear power plant accident in Ukraine in 1986.
