It opened its doors in Seattle at Amazon’s first grocery store where customers can shop around with their products without the need for a cashier and self-service system, and then go shopping with their products.
The 167-square-meter shop is located in the Amazon building. Customers must first download the Amazon Go application, and then pass through a rotating door to activate their “baskets”. Surveillance cameras are on the top, and on the shelf are scales on which buyer takes off the shelf. By machine learning, computers can distinguish similar products well. Payment is made at the time of abandonment, and the application charges the price of the collected products to the user’s Amazon account.
