US President Donald Trump warned Bassar al-Assad, Syrian President, on a Twitter post to “not start an unkind attack” against the rebel-controlled Idlib province.
In his microblogging record, Donald Trump warned the Syrian President, two Allies, Russia and Iran.
“The Russians and the Iranians would commit a serious humanitarian error if they were involved in this potential human tragedy. They could kill a hundred people. Do not let this happen!” – wrote the American president.
Idlib is located in the northwest of Syria, and a large number of rebels and a group of Islamic groups are under the control of Tahrir as-Sám. The Emigrant Organization, the Syrian Observatory on Human Rights, said last Thursday that the Syrian government mobilized tens of thousands of troops in Hama, Latakia and Aleppo provinces, apparently against the Idlíb offensive.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Friday frowned on the alleged offensive of the Syrian government, arguing that Damascus has the right to dispel the extremists from Idli. The Russian minister also announced on Friday that negotiations on the evacuation of civilians are under way. Mike Pompeo, the head of US diplomacy, also criticized Lavrov’s position on Friday in a Twitter post, calling the Russian-backed Syrian government offensive as “aggression”. Pompey wrote, “the world is watching”.
