Thibaut Courtois has betrayed Chelsea to the Real Madrid soccer team to get closer to two of his children living in the Spanish capital.
“I always remember happily for Chelsea, but now I have a chance to go back to Spain and get closer to my children. That’s important to me,” said the Belgian goalkeeper of the world championships for Sky Sports.
The 26-year-old was a member of Chelsea seven seasons, though he spent the first three seasons in Atlético Madrid. In the summer of this year, a club has switched to 35 million euros.
Courtois said he was sad that fans of the London team were angry at him and he even betrayed that he was down to the Spanish capital in March but he did not want to report for a while.
“At that time there was no transfer period, so I did not disclose it. I thought it would be better not to interfere with this team,” he said.
