EUR 715,000 was paid to Ferenc Pápa as a gift for Lamborghini for Sotheby’s Monachian auction. Among other things, revenue is being used to rebuild the homes, churches and public buildings of the Christian population in Iraq after being destroyed by the Islamic State.
The Lamborghini Huracan 580-PS sports car has sold more than twice the estimated price. The starting price of the car was 150,000 Euros. Ferenc Pope received from the manufacturer last autumn the white car with gold-yellow details, which is traded at 183 thousand euros.
The bishop has long been opposed to people buying the latest car and phone models. As a Pope, he uses a blue Ford Focus in the Vatican and has a 1984 Renault R4 car.
The proceeds from the sale of Lamborghini are divided into three parts:
– one of them will support the reconstruction of the homes, churches and public buildings of Christians who were fired by the Islamic State Warrior in Iraq;
– another part is made up of organizations that assist victims of trafficking in human beings and are forced into prostitution;
– spending the third part in supporting the work of organizations providing medical care in African countries.
